Schenley Farms Terrace Renovation Oakland, Pittsburgh

This private residence is located in the Schenley Farms Historic District (part of the National Register of Historic Places) in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The house had sat vacant for some time. While interior renovations were underway, citySTUDIO was contacted to consult on the exterior historic renovations. Any new features required approval from the City Historic Review Commission, because of the location within the historic district. The primary design element was the new window design, which was selected to match the house’s original window style. The design also specified new fascia trim, gutters, downspouts, and a recommended color scheme. In addition, there were two existing detached single-car garages in the rear that were renovated to complement the style and color of the house. The appropriately restored house, sitting prominently at the beginning of the street, completes the row of unique historic houses.
